Blue State

When I saw this shift dress in the thrift store, I was ever-hopeful that it would fit me. And it did. I love the retro 60s feel to it; it has a bit of a political wife vibe going on. I would have loved to have styled it with a big pearl choker, white gloves, a hat, and a pair of Ferragamo mid-heeled pumps (Think Jaqueline Kennedy, not Barbara Bush), but I didn't have those things on hand, as this was shot while I was still in the States.  In the meantime, this is a great-looking, classic shift that will go the distance. It's roomy, so you can do all sorts of gauche, non-celebrity-lifestyle-type-things such as eat and breathe in it. I was at first skeptical of the loose fit, as drapey things tend to hang-off of those of us with a C-cup or greater in a bit of a tent-like fashion, but meh...who cares? If there are those who would be threatened by the spectre of what might lie beneath the vast yardage of material of my dress, let them wonder.  It can only add to my feminine mystique.

  2. That dress is fabulous and I love how you styled it. And I think it looks great on you. I tend to avoid similarly cut dresses given my build but I think I might give one a shot now. Hopefully, it'll look as good on me as it does on you!

  4. Oh my goodness, this dress is mod-fab!! I know what you mean about C+ in shift dresses - can't the designers get their acts together for us "real" women, haha!! You look amazing and I can't believe (and am totally jealous) that it was thrifted. Perfect styling with the necklace (checking out your links) and the shoes. But agree, those new customizable Ferragamo pumps would be a beauty with it. But seriously perfection as is. LOVE!

  5. Great style! I love the loose fit in combination with the shorter length, just perfect.
I don't feel comfortable with that length on me any longer but with your legs and knees it looks stunning.
