Can This Hot Mess Be Saved?

This is Day Three Hair. It has been through one night shift, one doubles match, yoga, a run, countless ponytails and/or topknots, and three sleeps.  This is epic for me. I have always been one of those every-day hair washing kind of gals. Lately though, I have been making a conscious effort not to wash my hair too much now that I no longer colour, as it gets dry really fast with too much washing. But it can be difficult between the workouts and the natural texture of my hair (wavy, thick, fuzzy) not to want to just stick it under the tap and start over.

Instead, I have taken to trying to revive my mop in other ways. Here is my latest last-ditch hair fix before I finally to give-in and bust-out the shampoo bottle.

It works! Granted, I took this photo right after I removed the rollers, and they tend to relax after a while and settle-in for a less Old Hollywood look and more of a soft wave, which I prefer. you can also brush it out to the way you want it to look, then spray it to hold it in place. I just ran a little shine serum through it and called it a day.

  2. K - hi from the usa. Just found your blog, as I have decided to go gray. First month, very dark hair, don't want to cut, long way to go. Anyway, I already have coarse wiry hair. What you did with the dry shampoo and hot rollers looks great. I never, ever brush, though-just a wide comb after a wash and that's it, FWIW.

  3. Your hair looks so great! I love the gray and the cut. I wait as long as possible to wash my hair also, my hair gets dry. Always wanted to try the dry shampoo. You have convinced me to try some.

    1. I only recently tried it myself. I asked the lady who cuts my hair about it, and she said it was great, and that most of the brands out there are pretty much the same, so don't bother spending a tom of $$ on some expensive brand. They make ones with colour and sparkle and whatnot as the powder can make you look like you have powdery grey roots, but for me, obviously that's not a problem. Probably not for you either since you're blonde. I love the stuff. I always thought I HAD to wash because I'm constantly sweaty from sport and exercise, but I stand corrected!

  4. It has been so humid this summer especially in France that I have given up the blow dry and gone au natural, which for me is naturally wavy. Apart from the time saved I now quite like it. I just use product scrunch and go. The product is important I like Shu Uemura crazy wave.

    1. We were in the S of France earlier in the summer, and that is exactly what I did. In fact, that is pretty much my approach to holiday hair, with the exception of cruises and places where you have to put on black tie. Then I may indulge in a blowdryer. Oooo...fancy...;)

  6. Interesting. Just yesterday I used the exact same dry shampoo because I was pressed for time. My hair can get a bit oily so I wasn't too sure if it would work, but it did just fine. I used the blow dryer afterwards, I'n not coordinated enough to use hot rollers or a curling iron without hurting myself :-)
