Short Skirt and a Long Jacket

This week, the lovely Sacramento from Mis Papelicos is hosting her blogger Share-in-Style with a floral theme. I panicked a wee bit, because I don't really have much in the way of true floral prints. As much as I love a print, I tend to favour big, graphic prints and Asian-inspired pieces. But lo and behold, I do have a few florals hiding in my closet. This is a skirt that I tend to favour on vacations. It's lightweight and easy to wear, and the black and white print is bold enough to not look overly frilly, something I never feel that I carry off all that well.

With a graphic black and white look, I love a bright lip, and little else in the way of makeup. Actually, come to think of it, this is the second time in a week that I have shown a face pretty much devoid of makeup except for a bright lip. Maybe I'm just getting lazy.

You should also know that it took all of my willpower not to airbrush out my crinkles under my eyes. Clearly I'm not very well-hydrated today. Keepin' it real people....keepin' it real.

  1. I like the outfit. The blog title immediately made me think of the song "Short Skirt Long Jacket" by Cake.

  5. Hi Kristin, just browsed through your blog an love your style. I hope, I will be that cool too, when I turn 40!
You look awesome in the skirt! Is it ok, if I safe the idea for later, when I'm back in shape?

    Kind Regards, Silvana

  6. That's a super cool outfit! I'm not a fan of floral prints, either (love them on other people, though), especially in clothes. But these 'challenges' that Ssacramento sets us often prove that it is possible to interpret an idea in a unique and individual way, like you've done here.

  7. What a fabulous outfit! Floral outfit in monochrome! I don't do that often, but maybe I should..this outfit is very stylish, elegant and chic! I do have a bikini with exactly the same pattern as that skirt (that looks amazing on you btw) which I really like!

You look lovely with bright lip! ( I must confess that I often don't wear any make up)...somehow I find it difficult to find time to sit down and do my make up.

    1. My very first place was a studio on Capitol Hill (of course, right?), then I lived in a lovely 50s era place at the bottom of Queen Anne (had a massive 1950s picture window with a full on view of the space needle and the city). My last place was in Wallingford, a house right behind the QFC. I was just therein May and can't believe how it's grown. I really miss it...great city.
