The Path of Least Resistance

I've just spent the last few days celebrating my 43rd birthday on a wee sneaky road trip out and about in Scotland with my husband. In a move that is uncharacteristic of one who loves colour as much as I do, I packed clothes that were entirely neutral - shades of black and white to be exact. I think this had less to do with the occasion and everything to do with the fact that the weather was pretty variable and, well...I took the path of least resistance. A neutral capsule wardrobe is easy and quick, and as I often do, I packed on the fly.

It is a well-documented fact that I love a nautical stripe, so in addition to my black and white wardrobe, naturally I had to include a tried and true nautical stripe shirt. To say it got a lot of play time would be the understatement of the year.

We stayed in a lovely suite at the Hilton Craigendarroch, and as one would expect of a Hilton suite, the room was pretty darn slick.  We ate, relaxed, ate, did some sightseeing, shopped, had drinks, afternoon snacks, and ate some more. I'm rubbish at remembering to capture things on film while I'm in the moment, so my photos are few. Who wants to live through the lens of a camera or smartphone? Okay, maybe Kimye, but still. That said, here are a few hastily captured casual daytime outfits and highlights. See you all back here later in the week.

Happy Birthday to Me.  Let us raise a glass to the ageing process.

  7. Sounds like you had a lovely time. Ever since my recent flying visit to Glasgow, I've been really keen to see a bit more of Scotland. I keep having work meetings in the middle of the week, sadly!
