Palazzo!

Tall girls of the universe...our time has arrived! Palazzo pants are officially back in style and in a store near you!

I am so very happy to see these fuller, higher-waisted pants coming back around a second time. Actually, this season is a mix of a few of my favourite decades; there's a heavy 90's bent with empire waists, spaghetti straps, full legged trousers, and crop tops (meh). The 70's are having a moment too: high waisted jeans, flares, tunics (yay!), and platform sandals are baaaack, baby!

But back to the palazzo. Incidentally, all I can think of when I type "palazzo"is the scene from The Naked Gun where Leslie Nielson (may he rest in peace) poses as famed opera star Enrico Pallazzo and murders the National Anthem at a baseball game. Hilarious. That movie still makes me laugh, O.J. Simpson notwithstanding.

So these pants. They're the best. They feel great, they look awesome, and they're perfect for travel. I like them to be long enough to completely cover my shoes. They can even drag on the ground a little, but you need to stop short of trampling all over the hem. That just looks sloppy. Because these are such a bold statement, I've just added a plain white blouse, some flat metallic sandals, and a few hints of gold jewellery. That's really all you need.

  8. I think they look ridiculous even on tall girls. And what about the hem? You will just be dragging a lot of slush around.

    1. YESSSS. There it is. This is the first negative comment I've ever gotten on this blog in the nearly four years that I have been writing it! I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong. As for the hemline...meh. 'll drag no more slush around than I do already.

  9. Tall girls wear these especially well. And you, tall one, look lovely in these. My first thought when I saw your photo was "Ahhhhh ... that Kristin knows how to choose a pair of pants!" Wonderful waist treatment, and really suits your figure. Neat and trim and sophisticated with your easy white blouse and sandals. Good lesson for even a short girl ... who intends to make a stab at this just because I want to, whether I should or not.
I've always thought the word "palazzo" evokes such exotic elegance and nonchalance. I imagine fabulously wealthy, young, gorgeous and completely spoiled Italian donna-divas lounging around their palaces, Camparis in hand and eyes on the door ... waiting for their Paolos or Giovannis to return from their hard labors at international banking. All that in a pair of very comfy pants. If that isn't enough reason to put on a pair, then I don't know what is.
I share your joy at the pan-decade-redux thing that's happening this spring! Fun to show what we've learned about putting ourselves together since the first time around, yes?
