Twelve Pound Badass

I had no intention of buying anything last week when we were in Glasgow for the day, but this dress was on the sale rack at Gap for twelve pounds. Its jersey, totally soft, doesn't wrinkle, and has an interesting hem that rises on the sides so that you can take a big step. I usually don't go for midi-length dresses because I find that often they restrict my leg movement, but this one is so comfy you literally forget you have it on.

One of the things I like best about something like this that is simple but drapes well, is that I can pair it with a tougher, more statement-ey shoe or boot. I like that this particular pairing gives this dress a bit of a badass kind of vibe - like I just sauntered in from battle, stashed my battle axe, washed the blood off of my face and arms, then decided that tonight instead of a handbag I'm gonna carry the severed head of my enemy. You know, just to mix it up a bit. After all, it's date night.

  1. That's a brilliant shoe-and-dress pairing.

BTW, (unrelated) your posts about letting your hair go gray have helped to inspire me to do the same.
