An Homage to Nerdiness. With Heels.

Today I just thought I would do something a bit different. I have been noticing lately that I am sometimes surrounded by a lot of really smart people that don't give a hoot about the way they dress themselves. I think that this is tragic. Unfortunately, there is still an erroneous philosophy floating around out there that to pay attention to one's sartorial choices somehow diminishes you intellectually.  But don't take it from me.

"Once you can accept the universe as being something expanding into an infinite nothing which is something, wearing stripes with plaid is easy"
                                                                  --Albert Einstein

I'm not going to go full-on stripes with plaid today. Maybe just some hyper-feminine know, the ones that we adults are so afraid of.....only wearing them in a very buttoned-down, serious, Dewey Decimal System sort of way, as to not threaten the intellect. Oh, and with heels, of course....duh!

  1. The pink jeans look great with the nude heels. I'm an attorney and I always notice how poorly dressed so many female attorneys are. It's like they think they won't be taken seriously in a great fitting suit and some stylish jewelry.

    1. Exactly. I am in a job now where I have to wear surgical scrubs all day (nurse practitioner), but at my old job, I got to wear a lab coat over my real clothes. How I pine for those days. I look at some of the residents and want to shake and slap them and yell "stop undermining yourself!!!". Seriously, why work that hard to get somewhere only to dress like a schlumph.

  2. As a librarian, I need to know what Dewey Decimal number you would assign to your outfit!

But many librarians fall into the frumpy dressing trap. I mean, a jumper with a giant cat on it and Birkenstocks? You can dress well and be taken seriously at the same time!
