All Weather Off White

I had thought about saving saving this post for when it gets colder and making it into a "winter white" type of an affair, but I realized that once the weather really starts to turn and there's mud and/or slush everywhere, there is about as much chance of me wearing an all-white outfit as there is a six-legged, chocolate-scented rainbow unicorn offering me a biscuit with my morning latte. As clean and tidy as all white can be, it's just not the most practical for those of us love to move about our lives with travel mugs full of coffee.

That said, this off-white look (ecru, bone, ivory, magnolia, vanilla…whatever you want to call it) does not necessarily need to be relegated to the winter months. Slightly less formal than a "winter white" ensemble that you might wear to say, a holiday party, this is actually a really comfortable, casual look. I've paired a cashmere cowl neck with a pair of wide-legged cotton trousers I found on sale at Gap last weekend. The trousers were actually cuffed, and I immediately de-cuffed them when I got them home so that I could actually enjoy a pair of trousers that are properly long enough for me. Look, you can even see the crease where the cuff was. That's because I didn't iron them. Life is too short for ironing.
