Adventures in Sleep Packing

You guys have seen these boots before. This is one of my favorite pairs of cowboy boots, and I love them. However, under normal circumstances, they probably wouldn't be the only pair of shoes I brought on a nearly two-week trip (okay, not including running shoes - those don't count), but that's what I did. 

I work a lot of nights at the hospital, and I'm a last-minute packer. In my opinion, that's the only way to be. If you start packing a week (or even more) before you go somewhere, you will take way too much stuff. You will. I've been there and done that. Do not argue with me on this, I am a trained professional - I have an honorary doctorate in putting stuff in bags from the University of Way Too Much Shit. 

Of course, the other side of the coin is this. You pack on not a lot of sleep (okay, none), and when you open your bag you realize that you have one pair of (admittedly awesome) boots to wear, and workout shoes. Granted, subconsciously I knew that I was coming on a trip where I would undoubtedly be adding to my shoe cache, so that definitely had something to do with it. In fact, I already found a fantastic pair of practically-new ankle booties at a thrift shop. So, as I write this, it's no longer a thing. But even if I hadn't bought another pair of shoes, I would not have minded, because I chose to bring a favorite pair with me. That's the secret. Pack light, and pack your favorites so that you will feel happy in your one pair of boots.
